The Final Step

Become an Australian Citizen

Becoming a citizen is the ultimate goal of your immigration journey. It gives you the right to vote, an Australian passport, and full government protection. We help make the final paperwork easy.

Choose Your Path to Citizenship

There are different rules depending on your age, how you got your residency, and where you were born. Here are the three most common ways to become a citizen.

Standard Pathway (Conferral)

For most permanent residents (and NZ citizens on a 444 visa). You must have lived in Australia for at least 4 years total, and at least the last 12 months as a PR. You will need to pass the Citizenship Test and prove good character.

For People Over 60

If you are over 60 years old and hold permanent residency, the rules are much easier! You still need to meet the 4-year living requirement and prove good character, but you are completely exempt from taking the Citizenship test.

By Descent (Parents)

If you were born overseas but at least one of your parents was an Australian citizen when you were born, you might automatically qualify for citizenship. You just need to prove their identity and your birth records.

What Does It Cost?

The government charges a flat fee to process your application. Our legal team can handle all the confusing paperwork, ensure your dates are correct, and make sure your application is perfect before you pay.

Government Application Fee

AUD 560 for most normal adult applicants. Concessions (discounts) are available for children or people on specific government support.

Citizenship Test

The test is completely free and included in your application fee.

Extra Documents

You may need to pay a little extra to get official police clearances or translations of foreign documents.
